When the forerunner of the Mini Seven Racing Club held its first Formula Mini-7 championship race at Brands Hatch on April 17th 1966, no one could imagine it would still be going strong in 2015.
Eight 850cc Formula Mini-7 cars started that day but, even so, the racing was exciting according to the motoring press reports at the time. One aspect has changed since those early days… grid sizes are much larger and there are now three active formulae: Mini Se7en, Mini 7 S-Class and Mini Miglia.
The appearance of the cars is staggeringly different to those somewhat amateur days in 1966, but it is without doubt that the racing is just as exciting.
NWBIB are proud sponsors of Kane Astin Racing and with his season going from strength to strength, culminating in securing the 2015 Championship with two races to spare, we take a look back on his highlights;
Kane originally started racing in 2003 with no racing background in the Mini 7 Championship which he went on to win 2009, with 15 Podiums and 5 wins.
In 2010 Kane purchased a Mini Miglia, which he still races today.
